Poker Hand RankingAlmost every variation of poker game uses a standard single deck of 52 cards without the jokers. To become a good player the first thing you need to learn is how the poker hands rank, so that you know how to build your poker hand. The hand ranking for Texas Holdem poker is as follows: Hand Description Royal Flush This is the highest hand in Poker and consists of : Ace, King, Queen, Jack, Ten, all of the same suit. Example: Straight Flush This is a combination of five cards in sequence and all of the same suit. Example: Four of a Kind This is a combination of four cards of the same denomination, one in each suit. Example: Full House This is a combination of three cards of one denomination and two cards of another denomination. Example:
Flush Five cards all of the same suit. Example: Straight Five cards in sequence of any suit. Example: Three of a Kind Three cards of the same denomination and two unmatched cards. Example:
Two Pairs Two different denominative pairs and any fifth card. Example: One Pair Two cards of the same denomination and three unmatched cards.Example: Ace-King The hand includes an Ace and a King with three unmatched cards. Example: Note: When comparing two high hands or two low hands which are of identical poker and hand rank, the hand which contains the highest ranking card shall be considered the higher ranking hand. If the two hands are of identical rank after this comparison, the hands are considered a copy hand and the dealer wins.
